I have been really letting loose lately after a few angsty days of trying too hard. I truly am an artist who prefers to follow my imagination rather than focusing on what my art “should” look like. Talk about freedom!

I saw a fantastic photo of one of my friends on Facebook and felt inspired by it. I asked her permission to use it as a reference photo. Heather Anthony Kieley lives in Arizona and the vistas there are quite beautiful. I used a lot of thick paint on a semi wet paper. I used my intuition in order to get the look I wanted.

I like to get in and get out when I paint. I have been called a “straight shooter” I suppose it carries over to my approach to painting. This is definitely an allaprima painting.

I made up for my angsty days by painting 5 new paintings in one quick secession, one after another and boy was it freeing!

#5 “The Forest Awaits” – 13 x 19 inches – abstracted landscape
Painting from my imagination is addictive! Yes, indeed. The thrill and magic of painting blindly is wonderful, give it a try sometime.

I kept at this until I was satisfied. It took me a few days to complete it but so worth it. It was as though I was being whispered to.

The last one group. Thank you for taking the time to read and view my paintings! Until next time!
Essence of Spirit and Brewing are particularly striking paintings – keep up the straight shooting!

Good morning. Margaret….what.a fantastic way to begin my day. These paintings are fantastic…my favourites being one, two and five – although all are inspiring. Like you….letting loose, freeing up is the thing that excites me to do and to see….as in your work.
Happy new year and may it bring much creativity….clearly you have started off on a good footing. XX

The looseness of your style is as inspiring as your approach.

Thank you so much for your comments. Believe it or not my perfectionist tendencies threw me into full head-on into devoted looseness. At least that was my start. It has been very complicated journey and to fully explain it would be a task in itself. Freedom is sublime! Cheers!

What a fabulous collection of paintings Margaret! You seem to be on fire with your freedom of expression and totally in touch with your own intuition which I’m sure is no mean feat! Congratulations!

Oh – I also meant to mention that your post set in my mind the idea that we each of us have within us a ‘watercolour whisperer’ which I really like the idea of! Thanks Margaret!
