A Slow June

Painting #1 “Mendocino Dreaming” – 11 x 14 inches

This month I haven’t produced as many paintings as I usually do because I ran out of paper. Now that I received my supplies I am ready and raring to go. I do have a lot of outdoor work to do but I’ll manage somehow. I have decided to take more time with my painting, slowing down has helped me to be more contemplative with the intent of my creativity.

Painting #2 untitled 11 x 14 inches

The above painting wasn’t as successful as #1 but I am including it anyway. I have a few larger paintings that I hope to finish up soon.

Lately I have been watching quite a few videos of professional painters which helps me a lot. This month it has been 3 years since I have decided to seriously tackle learning watercolor. I have come a long ways!

Today’s post is a short one, until next time, stay creative!

Hello June

Painting #1 “Redwoods” – 14.5 x 21 inches

I can’t believe how fast June is flying by. The painting above was a slow one because I wanted to work on having a strong focal point. I purposely wanted to work on one redwood to completion while painting the other trees to bare bones. I am undecided if it finished or not.

Unfortunately California has been heating up fast, not just weather-wise but fires have been breaking out all over the state. My anxiety level has stepped up, here we go again, sigh. It is the reality of living in California. Maybe I should move to the North coast where it is cool and green and where the fire danger is low! Alright, enough complaining.

Painting #2 untitled 11 x 14 inches

I live within minutes of Bullards and of course I can’t resist painting the area.

Painting #3 “Bullards Bright” – 11 x 14 inches

Just when I think that I have exhausted my ability to paint an area or view over and over, I manage to do it. Sounds like bragging, no! Seriously I think that it happens because of just leaning in with blind determination (and faith)

I have read how Claude Monet painted his pond over a hundred times. I suppose I should have researched that fact. I think that I will once I post this.

Painting #4 “Skies over Nevada City” – 11 x 14 inches

I am including this painting though it wasn’t exactly a success (in my view) because I was trying to capture what I personally saw driving through Nevada City. I hope to attempt this again in the near future.

I will be finishing up a few ongoing paintings while I wait for my watercolor paper to arrive. Have an awesome week!
