Storming February

Painting #1 North Yuba Morning

11 x 14 inches

February has been a month of snow, rain, wind and painting, of course! The painting above is of one of my favorite places to plein air paint.

Painting #2 Shenanigan Bright 11 x 14 inches

I felt that this painting from last year needed more depth so I reworked it, so glad I did.

Painting #3 Break Through 11 x 14 inches

I have been feeling frustrated for the past few days and today I decided enough was enough and to jump in. I think that I have been spending more time on rendering and being careful painting. I do better when I throw caution to the wind and take risks. This is the best way for me to tap into that creativity that I cherish.

This painting is on Schut Noblesse watercolor paper which is a dream to paint on. It supposedly can be difficult to work with but I have gotten use to it.

Painting #4 Another Morning on the Yuba 15 x 19 inches

I decided to go big this time. I am so stingy with my paper supply so I tend to paint on quarter sheets. I need to paint larger because it is freeing. This one is on hotpress watercolor paper.

Painting #5 untitled

An imaginescape which was absolutely fun to paint.

Painting#6 untitled 11 x 14 inches

I have been running out of ideas for titles. Another imaginescape which can stretch your mind and skill, I recommend it.

Painting #7 Yuba Dreaming 11 x 14 inches

I can’t resist coming back and painting this scene again.

Painting #8 Humbug Creek 11 x 14 inches

I was afraid that I over-painted this one, perhaps I did but at least I managed a good focal point.

That’s all for now, I will see you all in March! Cheers!
